Receivership

Parties to a divorce frequently cannot agree on the disposition of their joint assets and the divorce attorneys usually include provisions in the order of court for the appointment of a receiver.

The Receivers role is to determine and to value the assets and liabilities in the respective estates of the divorcing parties and to determine the net value of their estates.
This may include the valuation of the underlying company(s) where one of the parties is a shareholder.

And may also result in the disposal of the property in which the parties resided before divorcing.

The Receiver strives for a fair distribution of all assets in terms of the divorce order such that neither party is prejudiced.
The Receiver also strives to ensure that ALL assets are included and that there has been no wilful understatement of assets by either party.
